Re: cutlers alleged ala literature

"However! the half-life of simple ALA (which is what Andy recommends) is about 30 min...."

== Cutler explains that when you take it orally, the absorption in the gut extends that a couple of hours. This is maybe the biggest reason that oral chelation is so much superior to IV. It is much easier to keep blood levels relatively stable and allow chelator from the next dose to cleanup Hg that was kicked up by the previous dose.

== In practice people feel okay taking ALA every 3 hours. Some may be okay closer to 4 hours, I suppose that is why he says we can be up to an hour late for a dose.
He explains in his own words in the second half of this post.

== A few, including me, don't do well when taking it every 3 hours. We do better when taking it more frequently. I have mild reactive hypoglycemia which may be involved. Most don't need to do this.

"...now consider the DHLA product from Gera nova (which Andy has denounced), which has a half-life of four hours..."

== Firstly I think I recall a post by Andy Cutler where he said people could use DHLA. Where did he denounce that product? I don't know why he would disapprove of it. It might actually be superior to using regular ALA; however since the studies on LA as a chelator used regular ALA, it makes sense to me to use regular ALA. It is also probably less expensive.

== Regards,

== Joe
