Juice fasting and herniated disc
Hello, first post here on cure zone, have used the website a few times in the past and am appreciative for its existence,
I'm 21 y/o male 6'4" 180 lbs fast metabolism low body fat. I'm here because I herniated L5/s1 in my spine and want to find the fastest route to fully heal this injury. It occurred about 11 months ago when I over worked the muscles of my lower back when training for boxing - I didn't work my core nearly enough and being tall with poor posture did not help matters.
The herniation was not bad enough to warrant surgery but has prevented me from returning to training and is causing a real problem for me. I've been researching
Water Fasting but since I work 3 12 hour shifts per week in an emergency room and will need energy to stay committed to work and being 21 with a fast metabolism, I feel juice fasting would better suit my situation.
There are a few questions I have and if there's anyone out there who can give me some sound advice I will be indebted to you, this is almost my last hope for a complete recovery without surgery, which I have been trying to avoid at nearly all costs.
Currently I take l-dopa and GABA, can I take these on a juice fast? I know any pills should be avoided but I'd prefer to not stop taking these at this point in time because it may interfere with my life in other ways if I stop.
Will juice fasting potentially speed up the healing of the nerve root, scar tissue of ligaments and lower back muscles, and disc reabsorption? Or am I wasting my time? shooting for 30 days of juice/water fast
Would an epidural shot interfere with the natural healing process that by fasting we attempt to achieve?
Thanks for your time, any sound advice or personal experience is appreciated
