Adding anything

Reading posts on the forums and articles online about balanced sodium/potassium/calcium bicarbonate and/or Sea Salt intake, together with few drops of iodine, during water fast, I was wondering what is your opinion on that...

Occasionally I have to take celery, parsley or cilantro juice to replenish salts. I know that I have still excess fluoride in my system, most probably Iodine deficiency and my bones are quite depleted from Calcium. And these are not due to fruit fasts! I explain it with my previous largely grain-based feeding habits. My heart is not too strong, so salt wasting through distilled water is a problem for it too. I am hoping to prevent further depletion of Calcium from the bones, during the fast, through the use of bicarbonate around 1/8 to 1/4 tsp (for around 100 lbs of weight), and 1/4 to 1/2 ocean/sea salt in 2 l of distilled water daily.

I believe bicarbonate is a good idea, since it will level down the acidosis during water fast/probably fruit fast too, and will minimize calcium loss from bones. I have already lost around 6 lbs on my ongoing fruit fast from the initial 115 lbs. I am feeling well, but a little spacey. I will switch to water (+/- salts) only soon, and I will go until I have lost all the fat reserves -- around 16-18 lbs more.

Hi DL :),

Several other members have a lot of knowledge and experience to contribute as well, but thanks for the vote of confidence.  (From my perspective, there's Chris, then there's all the rest of us ;) ).  It is my humble opinion through whatever i have read and learned to date that the benefits of your water only-fast will be optimized where nothing at all is added for reasons discussed in the ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! thread where this is mildly debated.  I do understand your specific concerns and i believe that though it is counter-intuitive, water alone will conserve your resources better and provide better overall results than would be the case with any kind of supplementation.  If your reserves are low in certain areas, i would recommend building them in a supplemented juice fast/feast before fasting with water alone.  I like the idea of sodium bicarbonate in various applications, but not in conjunction with a water-only fast.  As you have said, ultimately it is your choice and i will support you 100% in spirit whichever way you decide to go ;).

Also, my understanding of distilled water is that it will never remove usable (chemically organic) minerals, but only unusable (chemically inorganic) rocks which are toxic, beyond worthless, and taken out as waste doing the body a big favor.  I believe a lot of the misinformation out there has to do ultimately with greed or other evil and when we seek with an open heart the truth is that we are often indoctrinated and completely deceived by the system... such as with flouride in the water supply being propagated to the masses as a great idea, pharmaceutical model as the ultimate and only medical solution with suppression to alternatives and gmos being perfectly healthy.

and i found this link: http://www.medical-library.net/content/view/228/41/

The reason I am interested is that I have very good knowledge/experience in fruit fasting, functioning OK with fruits/honey, but I get very weak on water alone.

My opinion here is that weakness in a water-only fast is almost always associated with the aggressive detox associated with it... toxins rising up from within us to be eliminated. I believe that in terms of detox a water-only fast is about 3x more aggressive than a juice fast and about 9x more aggressive than a fruit fast.  The rare individual who is toxemia free will not experience weakness in a water-only fast, but quite the contrary.  Dr. Shelton has a chapter with many examples of this.

All the best!
