My husband had hernia repair surgery on Sept 4 2011. The mesh his surgeon used was the Atrium CQUR. It has an omega 3 fatty acid coating that is supposed to allow for new tissue growth onto the mesh and then the coating will absorb into the new tissue 4 months after the implant. Well, it did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. The surgeon had to remove the mesh after 8 weeks because it was harming my husband. When the surgeon opened my husband up he found that the coating had come off of the mesh and had in fact not absorbed, but caused a horrible reaction. I know of 3 other people this has happened to with the same mesh. Im wondering if anyone else has had this mesh and had good or bad results. Maybe there was just a bad batch of them? The surgeon is no longer using the same type of mesh in surgeries and another surgeon in Texas removed it from his office as well. My husband has had many problems as a result of the mesh, even though the surgeon was able to remove the mesh. The next mesh was not a coated mesh and my husband ended up in the hospital with a MRSA infection on the mesh. It nearly killed him. Now he needs another surgery. he is on pain management and cannot work. Is there anyone else??
