Tincturing separately (plus "Leftovers") +edits...Re: Thank you Uny. Please read on.

>>>I have lots of left over from making eyebright and b&b tinctures recently (except for Barberry Root, Goldenseal Root, blue and black cohosh).<<<

So you have already made two tinctures...the Eyebright formula (without the Cayenne) and the B&B. Good for you!

>>>In fact I am going to post soon re: how to make tinctures on its own so that I can then use parts and at the same time use up those herbs.<<<

I'm fairly certain I don't know what that means. When making tinctures that use several herbs in varyinig ratios, we have two choices. Put all the herbs in the correct ratio in a jar and tincture that. OR tincture each herb separately, and then measure out the amount of each separate tincture needed to blend together to create the formula. Either way is very easy, simple & straightforward...mix the herbs in the proper ratio and press. Or make each separately, press, and mix them together using the proper ratio.

If you try to manage your tincture making based on "using up leftovers", you will likely become extremely disempowered & frustrated (see section at the end on "Leftovers" :)

>>> I am sure there is a post somewhere as to how to balance each individual herb, e.g. in eyebright formula like say
left over eyebright and raspberry leaves herbs. what proportion of alcohol I put in individual herbs so that when I am running out of eyebright formula tincture (all herbs mixed together) and then need to prepare barberry root and goldenseal root tinctures again how much alocohol should be added so that I can take 1 part of each of those tinctures and make eyebright formula?<<<

As above, there are two ways to make a tincture formula that requires multiple herbs in varying ratios. 1) Mix the dried herbs together in the correct ratios, cover with alcohol, tincture and press. 2) Make a tincture of each herb, press each, and them mix the individual tinctures together in the correct ratio.

When you are starting to run out of the first batch of Eyebright that you have made 'pre mixed' (or made separately and mixed), then just use it all and make more. You cannot just 'make more' or 'add more' of your leftovers, you have to make a full batch using the correct ratios every time you make it.

What you're saying/asking about the amounts of alcohol is very confusing to me (so I can only imagine how confusing it is for others). If you mean adding more or less alcohol to each of the individual 'leftover tinctures' to make individual tinctures that are a weaker strength, and then using those to try to extend the Eyebright formula you've already made, that is not an option and can/will not work.

This isn't rocket science; it's very simple & basic...and just like any other "recipe". If you're making chocolate chip cookies and you're down to the last of the dough in the bowl, you can't go over to your pantry and start adding "leftovers" to the dough in the bowl (without ruining what's in the bowl).

>>>I am also waiting until mountain herbs receive their supply and will order 4 oz of gotu kola and bird pepper along with other herbs.<<<

As I mentioned before, I do understand tight finances (there have been many times, when $30 is more than I had left to live on for several weeks after paying my bills). So if that's the reason for you not ordering what you've already determined your body needs to heal itself, I suggest you consider cutting back on your grocery budget in order to 'save up' enough to be able to order what you need (there have been MANY a time when Rocky n' I lived on rice n' beans in order to make sure we had enough to buy the herbs we needed for our daily Superfood, or an extra few bottles of alcohol for tinctures we needed). PI was nice enough to offer to sell you part of his so you could get started. If you're dealing with "other" issues that are holding you back (something like an OCD), then you need to address that asap (EFT is wonderful for those things...as is tending to liver health, since the liver IS the 'seat of emotions). Something sure seems very odd that you know your body needs these things, yet you're insistent on not getting them until you get the 'exact' amounts or can ensure you won't have a few ounces of 'leftovers'. So please be sure to take care of yourself if there are issues holding you back or limiting your freedom to heal.

Blessings,
Uny

"Leftovers"
(something I've needed to get into print for several posters/people over the years).

>>>I am aware of Starwest but cannot order 1 lb as I would not know what to do with all left over herbs. I need only a few ounces at a time.<<<

"Leftovers" are a part of making tinctures! I have taught & watched people for years making tinctures, and I have seen people become disempowered and totally frustrated by focusing on "leftovers". Quite honestly, in virtually every case, it's truly ridiculous.

Perhaps 'right now' you think you only need a few ounces at a time...but that very well may not be true in the near/distant future.

When we go to the store, we buy 5 pound bags of flour or sugar, even if a recipe only calls for a few cups. Sometimes we use the leftover, sometimes we throw it away...and if we're smart, when we have leftovers we'll figure out how to use them for our benefit!

The bottom line is that by making our own herbal blends or tinctures, we are saving a substantial amount of money...and unless we're talking at about an herb such as Goldenseal or Lady's Slipper - even though we have leftovers, we've still saved money. And that's if we're only making "one thing"...but no person that's learning to be their own doctor & pharmacist should WANT to limit themselves to just one thing when the doors of opportunity are wide-open right in front of them!

Example: it seems you didn't order a pound of bird peppers from Starwest because you didn't want to have leftovers. So, you don't have your tincture started, and your body is waiting for something it needs because...you didn't want to have any leftovers (???). The price of a pound of bird peppers from Starwest is $36.83. 2oz of Cayenne Tincture from Dr. Schluze is $44.00. Edit - And how much may it cost you in future tincture usage (and other expenditures) because you're allowing your condition to worsen?

Dr. Christopher said we should each have 3 teaspoons of 'Cayenne' daily (he used African Bird Peppers)...so you could grind the leftovers and use them as part of your daily diet.

You could grind them (or keep them whole) and have them 'at the ready' for making 'cayenne tea' (for emergencies, to massage into one's scalp to encourage hair growth and circulation) or for soaking in oil to make a 'heating balm' that is also very beneficial for certain types of nerve pain. Everyone should have cayenne or cayenne tincture in their purse, the glove box of their vehicles, their garage, basement and workshops for emergencies.

Ditto above, print off a few pages of testimonials & instructions and give them to people (to educate them, and to save their lives).

You could use them in cooking (we ALL need to "spice it up" with cayenne whenever we have the opportunity :)

You could use them to make a bug spray or 'anti rabbit/deer/critter' spray for your garden (or container plants), or even inside for spider mites and other tiny critters.

*!* Don't let "leftover issues" hold you back *!*
