Organic Hg readily crosses the blood brain barrier and can be converted to inorganic Hg. The latter has something like a 20 yr half life in the brain. It does not cross the bbb at a medically useful rate without assistance from something else such as Lipoic Acid. However beware of how you use LA or you'll be like these mice who ended up with *more* Hg in the brain. Cutler explains.
