Sunlight, SAD and AF
Hey All,
First off you can blame FEO for dragging me back here for a few days with a mail about a cool post :)
Anyhoo, I gotta say all the stuff I've been doing to support AF/
Depression has been really good for helping me with my normal winter blahs. I get SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) pretty intensely -- I always have. But I wasn't hit by it this year til about Jan 15th. not bad, not bad.
I noticed about that time my routine got totally disrupted, and I stopped using the light box in the am, and a lot of my supplements, snacks and midday nap got less common. I got grumpier etc. until I figure out the problem a few weeks ago. A few am of light box helped A LOT. Now I'm finding my sleep patterns are adjusted forward so want to sleep early, and get up 4am or so. But using the light box at night helps counteract that.
During the time I was not getting light/out of routine, I started getting higher cortisol during the days (more wired, belly tight), and I was getting pretty exhausted soon after. Instead of enjoying squash in the am, it was buring me out. It was a slowmo adrenal crash. But it was good to help clarify what is adrenal related, and what is not.
This might be useful to you, or maybe not, but just passing it on.
Cheers!
