Sounds as though you have a yeast problem to start with.

You can do the spit test for this.


Fill a glass with water, spit into it. if the spit balls stays fairly well formed in the water for a while this is normal, if it immediately falls apart and you can see long tendrils in the water....you have a yeast over growth.
