How long dies it take the SCD diet to reduce inflammation

A brif history first. My wife (age 32) was diagnosed with crohns in 2007 after having D for 4 months and two massive rectal fistulas. GI wanted hard core drugs, she opted not to take drugs and to try SCD and she went full bore on the SCD diet. Nine months later , both fistuals were gone never to return. She stayed on the diet for another year then started getting complaciant and started cheating eating bad foods again.

Fast forward to 2011. Oct 2011 she started having on and off pain in the illium. In Dec 2011, the pain was so great that she went to the hospital and CT showed massive inflammation in illium with small stricture. IV steriods and pain was gone in two days. Released from hospital on steriods 20mg daily since Jan 4th and 1000mg pentassa 3xday. Also, she went back on the SCD full bore with no chheating. Latest CT last week showed inflammation a little smaller, but not a lot. GI is pushing big time for Humira but we want to give the diet more time. My question is, how long does it take the diet to work if you have inflammation? How long before the inflammation reduces if you are on the SCD diet? I know everyone is different but I would like to know if other people have had a similar situation? Tweet
