Diet and MS

Yes, evening primrose oil is one that many people with MS use. Yes, I would take that while fasting. The key is to provide the body with nutrition to rebuild the myelin sheath. Have adequate amounts of oil. It is better to have too much than too little. You may even use more than one type of plant oil.

Explained simply, here are some ideas for diet.

I suggest, go to someone who specializes in allergy testing, and find out everything you are allergic to. Then avoid everything you are allergic to.

Avoid all animal fats. This includes milk and milk products, and meat. Low fat is not enough, these things need to be totally eliminated.

Avoid caffeine, by avoiding coffee, chocolate, etc.

This also means avoiding almost all manufactured and processed foods. Most of them have animal fats, or something else harmful in them. You may also have allergies to artificial additives in manufactured foods. You need to prepare your own food.

Supplement with plant oils, so the body has nutrition to rebuild the myelin sheath. As mentioned above: Have adequate amounts of oil. It is better to have too much than too little. You may even use more than one type of plant oil.

Talk to anyone who has overcome MS or had a significant improvement, and ask what they did. Anyone who has overcome a serious medical condition should share their experience, so others can benefit.

Get as many tips as you can from people who have been successful. Don't take advice from those who have not been successful.

You may find variations to the information above. For example, I know one person with MS using a fish oil supplement instead of a plant oil supplement. The key is, it needs to provide the nutrition to rebuild the myelin sheath. I know another person who completely overcome MS, who avoided all meat except for one type, and I can't remember which one it was. She did not get a reaction to that type of meat.

Keep in mind, that different people may have different allergies, so you may not be able to do exactly what another person does. Err on the side of caution. But most things should be the same.

In addition to the above, I suggest the following:

Purchase Licorice, also called Liquorice, 1:1 liquid extract, and take it as a supplement. It is a herbal medicine, not the candy. I suggest half a teaspoon twice a day for 6 months, then reduce to half a teaspoon once a day as a maintenance dose. Be aware, taking too much licorice may result in fluid retention. If you get fluid retention, stop taking the licorice.

Explained simply, Licorice promotes the health of the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands produce hormones which regulate immune reactions. Without the appropriate level of certain hormones, immune reactions may be more severe than normal, including the one damaging the myelin sheath.

Also purchase dried Agrimony. This is a herb. Make an infusion (herbal tea), and drink before each meal. You may make enough in the morning to last the entire day, and keep it refrigerated.

Explained simply, some food allergies occur as a result of leaky gut. In a normal person, food is broken down into very small particles, then assimilated into the blood. In people with leaky gut, larger, not completely broken down, food particles may be assimilated into the blood. The immune system detects them (anything large and unknown could be an undesired organism, such as a bacteria), and decides they shouldn't be there, and sets out to destroy them. Hence the food allergy . Agrimony is used to treat leaky gut, and reduce the assimilation of these large food particles.

Anything to avoid allergic reactions is beneficial for MS. Once the immune system gets stirred up, it may go to work on the myelin sheath.

I have written this in a short time. If I read it tomorrow, I will probably find ways to improve it. The aim is just to get the key concepts across.
