DMPS Challenge Test
I've been fighting my CFS/candida battle for two years - unsuccessfully. However, this week my doctor has suggested that my inability to rid the candida is the result of copper toxicity from a copper IUD I had from 2009-2010. My
Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome symptoms began in 2010 right before the copper IUD was removed.
Subsequent blood serum levels are normal. I've already completed the hair analysis and the urinalysis (without chelation) and I am waiting on those results. However, my hair has been chemically treated, I've been using zinc shampoo, and my water pipes are copper in my house, all of which could skew my results. My doctor wants me to complete the 24 hour urinalysis with DMPS to get a more accurate picture of my copper load.
I'm nervous about the DMPS challenge test based on the information I've read. I know many of the negative experiences people have had are because they had
Amalgams or they received the DMPS intravenously (or both) however, I do not have any
Amalgams nor will I be taking the drug intravenously. Specifically, my doctor has prescribed two weeks of Redoxal (methionine/sulfur formula) to prepare for the 1 day dose of 3 - 100mg capsules on the morning of day 14.
300mg seems a bit more than I will probably be able to handle - especially all at one time and as a person with candida/CFS... we are so sensitive to EVERYTHING. Do you think the test would be as effective if I just did 100mg total or maybe 100mg in the morning and another 100mg in the afternoon?
Please provide me your thoughts on my doctor's protocol.
