VAERS is merely a centralized reporting vehicle where ANYONE, regardless of their medical knowledge or experience, may report ANY post-vaccination reaction or incident that they THINK might have resulted from a vaccination. While submissions to the database may be investigated by any number of agencies, there is no requirement that anything reported be further investigated and validated by a qualified medical forensics examiner. The data is very "soft" and any definitive correlations inferred would be considered weak from the viewpoint of an epidemiological statistician.
