Re: Your assistance would be appreciated HV!!!

I've read up on some of your posts and found them most helpful. Firstly, I commend your knowledge and genuinely appreciate your willingness to assist. Thanks!!

Thank you.

I've got a few questions im hoping you could clarify. Regarding DHT and hairloss, unfortunately I happen to find myself in this situation. My hair seems to be receding at the temples (its more prominent on the right temple) and its becoming quite noticeable. You recommended licorice root as a DHT Blocker. If taken internally, I use the sticks/roots by the way, what is the recommended dosage that would specifically be helpful towards this condition?

You can use the licorice internally, but putting it directly at the source will provide more benefit.  If you want to use it internally then I recommend 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon 3 times daily before meals.  For topical use I recommend boiling a spoon full of the licorice root in a cup and a half of water for 15 minutes covered.  Then turn off the heat and allow it to cool.  Strain the tea in to a dark bottle and add about a half teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to the mix to help preserve it.  After washing your hair and towel drying put about a spoon full of the tea in to your palms and massage it in to your scalp focusing primarily on the temples and top of your head.  This will help block the DHT at the source of the problem.

The reason I ask this is because im considering muscle building and correct me if im wrong, the more testosterone levels , the more DHT.

This is not necessarily true.  Not al testosterone is converted in to DHT.  So a person can raise their testosterone without raising DHT at the same rate.

Does this mean I would need to increase the dosage of licorice to counter-act the increased production of testosterone levels?

No.  If you want to help maintain testosterone though you can also add nettle root, which blocks the conversion of testosterone in to estrogen.

And again, is it possible to restore the already lost hair within my temple region - there still seems to be hair but its very faint

Yes, as long as there is at least fuzz that means that the hair follicles are still alive and can regrow.  If there is nothing left then the follicles are dead and cannot be restored.

Also, I've experienced chronic dandruff on top of my head for years so im assuming this is some sort of fungal infection. The sides and back of my head are okay. Even the texture of my hair on top of my head seems to be more dry and wavy compared to the rest of my hair. Does fungal infections affect the texture of hair? Any possible solution to this?

Dandruff can be caused by the fungus Malassezia furfur.  There are several things you can do for this including adding antifungal oils to your shampoo such as thyme or eucalyptus oils and rinsing your hair with a weak organic acid solution such as vinegar or a weak citric acid solution.

The acids can also be added to your shampoo to help balance out the pH.  Some dandruff shampoos also use salicylic acid (aspirin) to treat the dandruff.

Dry hair can be from the alkaline nature of shampoos that damage the hair, or from hypothyroidism.

Waves in hair are in part genetic but are also supposedly enhanced by increased dietary sulfur, which can increase hair keratin.

My forehead also seems to be very oily compared the rest of my face. Especially in the mornings when I wake up, my forehead gleams with oil! Any reason why it localized in this area and what could possibly be done to correct this?

Active testosterone and DHT stimulate the sebaceous glands, which are larger in certain areas such as the forehead.  So as long as you are trying to boost your testosterone you are going to increase this problem.  You can try the licorice root tea on your forehead though as well to calm down the sebaceous glands.

Once again HV, you truly are a star. Thanks for all your assistance!

Thanks again.
