Re: veins

Swollen veins are pretty common, especially in people on their feet a lot.  This can lead to increased pressure on the vein valves damaging them and leading to back flowing of blood leading to the swelling.

The discoloration is more of a concern.  This could be something as simple as a bruise (bleeding in to the tissues) to a blockage such as a blood clot.  If the area is really swollen and hot you need to get it looked at right away.  If it is just a bruise then it can take time for the blood to reabsorb.  But you can apply an arnica cream to help speed up the process.
