genetically engineered stomach microbe (e-coli) converts seaweed into ethanol

At first one would imagine this to be the answer for the world´s "energy problems". But on second looks the fact that a fairly "common" microbe will be gentically modified, does´nt seem to fassle these so called "scientists". Read the comments and no one seemed to realise the most obvious implications - evn tho some critised other facts in this article.
Also - I remember learning in school, that e-coli is a microbe found in sh*t and is´nt usually found in the stomach, more likely in the colon. So that´s another clue about where these "scientists" are coming from!
