Re: First extended fast--should I continue my meds?
Aura: ... I am carrying a lot of excess weight. Would the body go after the fibroids and other unwanted tissues even when it has so much fat to work with?
MST: Hi Aura : ). The fasting body requires a certain amount of glucose, part of which can only be obtained through protein sources (via gluconeogenesis) and it will aquire them preferentially through the least valuable sources which will include fibroids (along with dead and dying cells for example). The fasting body will burn stored fat as the primary and predominate fuel source and protein sources as the secondary fuel source. The body requires both sources of fuel simultaneously and continuously throughout the fast and the amount of fat we posess does not in any way negate this physiological reality.
Aura: I've heard negative things about statins and multivitamins, and I intend to explore diet and exercise alternatives to those.
Chris: Statins are just a big moneymaker for Big Pharma by raking in Billions of $$$$ annually. Mainstream have just acted as their stooges unfortunately.
Chris: Statins suppress the normal production of cholesterol within the Liver amongst other things. Cholesterol is also essential for Brain health and the synthesis of Vitamin D3. People with the highest levels of cholesterol actually live the longest, and there is absolutely no correlation between what is considered to be high cholesterol levels and the risk of heart attacks or heart disease. Here are the real facts if you scroll down the page.............

MST: Since what Chris says about statins is true, there is no need to find an alternative to them since what they "fix" in no way needs fixing... and additionally, discontinuing them allows you to walk away from the negative health effects they create. How is that for an alternative? : ). What a shameless farce it is that has been perpetuated against us as a society by the mighty pharmaceutical industry, indeed a true (as opposed to false) example of quackery.
