There is a long tradition of using Iodine soulutions intravaginally. It usually involves dipping a long Q-Tip (or paint brush) in Lugol's or KI and swabbing the cervix.
Dr. Jonathan Wright even used this method to reduce the pain of lumpy, painful, hard fibrocystic breasts.

However, I don't think anyone has used Iodine in the genital area. Seems like that would sting.
