Sweating and weakness upon waking…

Hello,

Okay, first off, I’m male – mid fifties – 5’9” 155 lbs. Generally in very good health. Low cholesterol, good (low) blood pressure, exercise regularly. I do have adult acne, carpal tunnel, and oily hair (like needing to wash it two to three times a day)

For the last 3 or 4 months I have been experiencing stomach pain (not unlike the feeling of being really hungry).

Lately, I have the additional symptom of breaking into a sweat upon waking from sleep. At the same time, the sweating starts I also have the stomach pain begin and experience weakness in legs, arms and generally feel weak, shaky, and light headed. This is often accompanied by a headache. This set of symptoms gradually decrease and in about an hour have mostly subsided with the headache lingering.

Just to be clear – I do not have the sweating (or other symptoms) while sleeping or even when just laying there deciding if I really want to get up. But once I become fully alert – about 2 to 3 minutes later it starts up.

The stomach pain had been continuous throughout the day. It is not associated with eating times (although eating did seem to help ease the pain) Diet changes have had little or no effect. The last month or so I have been taking omeprazole twice a day and that has really helped with that original symptom of stomach pain but I still have what seems like heart burn most of the time.

They have done a standard blood test and everything was normal except for the BUN which was just slightly high.

Then I was tested for gall stones – no.

Had an upper endoscopy… No ulcers, or H Pylori but they did admit that the stomach lining did appear somewhat inflamed.

Had the standard TSH Thyroid test… it came back normal.

Had a HIDA scan with CCK – it showed somewhat decreased gall bladder function. The tech said it looked normal – doctor thought it was a bit off.

Now they want me to have my gall bladder removed...

It seems like they are just ignoring my other symptoms (they are GI doctors…) or does it make sense that a gall bladder problem could cause (what seems to me) more like some sort of endocrine system problem?

If it is associated with the thyroid, would the standard TSH test have necessarily detected it?

Thanks,
