Hydrogen peroxyde 3% to whiten yellow teeth.

I've bad yellow teeth and i want to whiten them without going to dentist. I believe that products used by them are dangerous for the enamel. I saw many dentist with yellow teeth, so i believe that they don't use HP on their teeth because it isn't safe.
Could I use HP 3% diluited with some water to rinse my teeth and to whiten them? , Does it work ?. Is Safe or it could be dangerous ?.
