Re: Uterine fibroids and menorrhagia

I am trying to make some herbal formulas to send to my mother who has been suffering from uterine fibroids, accompanied by extreme pain during menstruation and way too much bleeding. She has seen many doctors and not gotten much help from them. She is 50 years old and in otherwise good health, keeps in physical shape, eats well. I don't know as many details about her condition as I would, because she lives in a different country.

I was thinking of mixing some herbs for her to take daily, and also a mixture to help with cramping and other symptoms when the time of the month comes. I have picked up some herbs such as raspberry leaf, wild yam, nettle leaf, for her to take generally;

These are all good choices, and an acidified magnesium would be a good addition. But she should take these on a regular basis, not just during her monthly cycle.

And for the symptomatic bleeding and pain, cramp bark, ginger, chamomile, valerian, pannyroyal, shepherd's purse.

Cramp bark and shepherd's purse would be the best here.  Ginger is a blood thinner so it could increase bleeding.  Chamomile is not that strong for what you are trying to achieve. Same for valerian.  Pennyroyal can be toxic and is best not used.

Would these be good choices and do you have other suggestions for a protocol for her?

In addition to the magnesium to ease the cramping, she could also benefit from cleansing her liver with bitters and either B vitamin sources or TMG to help the liver with breaking down excess hormones.  Fibers in the diet can also help by increasing the flora to break down hormone metabolites and with thee binding of free hormones.
