This Letter May Ring True With Many. Many times I am depressed and for no obvious reason. My life is great, my home is fab and my cats are mean as hell, but I am blessed, so why am I depressed at times? It may stem deeper than I or you may think? I am sure this has happened to many. Depression is sometimes inevitable in case of death, but why do people get depressed for no reason?
Could it be linked to a cat injuring my foot or other deeper medical problems? This letter is intended to make you think.
Infection Cured - Depression Gone
I once suffered from clinical depression for a few months ["Infection … and Then OCD," Dec. 5]. There was no obvious cause, and my reactions to both herbal remedies and prescription drugs were strange. Then a routine annual physical exam revealed a prostate infection. The cure for the infection also cured the depression.
It is wise to check for a purely physical cause for depression, especially if it has no obvious link to a traumatic event.
