Day 1 Water Fast.. To Brush or not to Brush.

So I began my fast last night once going to bed. This morning I had a cup of hot water which was very soothing and felt almost like I was enjoying a nice cup of tea. I am not hungry, which is quite normal as I normally do not have breakfast on any particular day however I am feeling the urge to eat only because I know I'm not supposed to. It's very strange that knowing I am not really doing anything I wouldn't do on an average day, the temptation to eat is strong just because I must deny myself of it. I didn't think the morning would bring any discomfort as I am certain the evening would (when I usually eat the most). I am sipping another hot cup of water and it is helping in distracting myself from the superficial hunger pains I imagine myself to be having and its working.

Last night I cleaned out my fridge and placed anything worth saving in the freezer (I loathe waste). I've left plenty of chores to occupy myself with and hope that this will aid in draining my energy enough to sleep well. With my last fast I had many difficulties sleeping.

Now this might sound like an odd question but, would brushing your teeth with toothpaste while fasting still be adhering to a strict water fast? I only ask because I've seen it been brought up by people who fast for religious reasons and some believe it to be breaking fast. I am not fasting for religious purposes but was more concerned with accidentally swallowing the toothpaste which probably has ingredients that might harm my tummy. To brush or not to brush?
