Bromide toxicity and mental hospital admissions

If you have too much bromide displaced by Iodine it's possible to experience altered mental states. Before bromide was removed from many medicines, 5-10% of people admitted to mental hospitals had bromide toxicity.

You can Google this subject more. The US Army had this problem as some of the Gulf War soldiers reacted badly to a nerve agent vaccine containing bromide. The Army had to salt them out.
