Re: First week Of Water fasting :) and i feel LIKE crap :(
hi, do a forum search on Mouseclick's posts. He was overweight-- not to the extent you are, I don't think, but the water fast was life-changing for him.
I hope his posts are still around. There is so much good info on this forum, and much of it is from a few years back (no offense to current members). he was a bit of a junk food eater too, someone who literally would never think to eat an apple, yet after a couple of fasts, he was loving apples. His whole appearance changed, as did everything else. In fact he went to some sort of Natural college...anyway,look into that. Typically, you will feel a lot of hunger pangs for a few days, maybe longer, especially if you are someone who is actually quite malnourished, as is very often the case with obesity. It sounds crazy, but people eat a lot and crave a alot of food, usually junk, BECAUSE they are literally starving for nutriment, which, you will note, is not the same as nourishment. But the body gets into a cycle of this food, and doesn't know what else to crave.
Feeling like crap might have a lot to do with the colon. Chances are it is not empty, and some of that is being absorbed. Also, the more toxins you have in the body, the more are released as the cells begin to clear themselves out. I would be surprised if you could get to your goal weight before Christmas, and in fact it might not be a good idea to fast that long. Much depends on your state before the fast. If your mineral reserves are low,the body will have a hard time to keep things in balance. Even with fat to burn, your mineral reserves may run low...
I just broke a fast, not going too long this time. I started on the 22 with some carrot juice and had some more the following day and then went to water only. Wanted to go longer but it doesn't make sense right now. I find it a hard time of year to fast. Summer is much easier. In the past, I've fasted 29, 21, and several shorter water fasts, of like, 11, and around 6 days. I think it's all in my posts, so I don't really keep track mentally. Chrisb's posts are also really useful, as he cured himself of leukemia, and is well-versed in "Natural Hygiene", which is a way of living that puts the emphasis on all things wholesome and whole, and whose followers have tons of experience with water fasting. He also will post excerpts of his favourite Natural Hygiene authors.
I'm sure this will be life-changing for you.
Just remember, Rome wasn't built in a day...as they say.
Have patience. Even if you only feel you can go on for
two weeks, (or less), only good can come of it. You must be very careful on re-feeding, and don't be surprised if you find yourself being drawn to apples! The wonderful thing about water fasting is it re-awakens the true appetite, and more and more, you will want better and better food. Try not to focus on food while on the fast. For most people that only makes the stomach grind, since what we think about is strongly affecting the body. And if you have trouble wanting water, and get turned off it, try boiled hot water, to sip. It can really help.
One final piece of advice. Do not break the fast when you feel like crap. Feeling weak is one thing, but do your utmost to wait for an upcycle, when you feel mentally and physically quite good.It makes the re-feeding go smoothly. Very important. My first water fast I quit on a down cycle, and it took me at least a moth for food to taste right, and everything to be 'normal'. There will be dips and highs, on the WF. Sometimes you can feel crappy one day, and then great the next.
A lttlemid exercise like walking every day helps a lot. As does sun, if you can get it.
good luck!
PS. I hope you are not thinking of the water fast as a diet, because that's really the wrong view to take. Diets are about denial, and usually not very healthy, while a water-only fast is about healing.Weight loss is a side benefit, but some people will bige after a water fast, and gain it al back. Usually, these are the ones who've been thinking of it as a diet. In any case, go genlty with yourself, day by day. You're very young to have come to this, so I have high hopes for you. Literally, you can change, and save your life. You might also enjoy looing into Dave the raw food truker, because he has an inspiring story of coming from *his last legs*, to raw food. And that's something you might be inspired to do for a time, after you get some experience with water fasting. He's on Youtube. Start with his earlier videos.I think you'll be very impressed with his changes. All form eating nutirent-dense food, live and full of goodness. And he was someone who was eating pounds of meat a day.
