Not every case of anal HPV warts and/or HPV serotyped anal cancer is as a result of homosexual anal sex. I've personally seen a rare case of HPV serotype positive warts in a non-anal sex practicing non-homosexual male's perineum (area between the scrotum & anus). The virus can thrive and spread to produce lesions in any warm moist place. Vigorous sexua| activity with an HPV infected female - one who has HPV warts on their outer genitalia - can spread infective body fluids to many other areas of the body. This is how males get HPV warts at the base of their penis EVEN WHEN USING A CONDOM! Also - Finger and tongue play between males and females from mouth to vagina to penis to anus during sexua| activity can also spread the HPV virus.
