Excellent post. I loved what you said about the Spiritual Gifts. Oh, the benefits that are to be had if we would just use them as God intended. Complacency, laziness and the cares of this world among other things do get in the way. I share the same conviction.
I want to address your question "Have any of you found a way to witness? Any ideas"
Of course, the best witness is to be so full of Jesus that people can just see Him on us. Actions do speak louder than words. Some time ago I was standing on a sidewalk waiting for a bus. I felt the joy and Spirit of the Lord all over me. I had no idea that people could see this on me. A stranger came over to me out of nowhere and told me that I was just radiating. I can't remember how he put it, but he was curious to know why I stood there shinning like that. He seemed very touched by it. The sad part of this story is that here was an opportunity for me to witness to this man and I did not. I think I was just so surprised I looked that way, that my mind turned on me instead of the opportunity to witness. I wish I could shine like that all the time. People would notice and an opportunity to witness would come up naturally. Those who know us could just observe and the witness could be silent or they may open the door for witnessing as this man did.
I also would like to share a tool with you that has been very effective for me. I got this little booklet and tape from a ministry. I studied it and prepared myself to follow through with the ideas presented. I did try to open doors to witness and I felt the tool worked well. People did get saved and some rejected. NOW HERE IS AN IMPORTANT PART. The Lord knew I was fully prepared with this study. I think this is what caused Him to actually send people to me. One man even came up to me at work and said, "Tell me about your relationship with Jesus?" I couldn't believe my ears. I took him in the break room and really let him have it using the plan in the little booklet. He seemed very convicted. People came in the break room and so I could not bring him to a decision then, but I could tell he was really touched. I believed the Lord used that and may have sent other workers in his path to bring him in.
I found a free pdf of it here if you are interested. The tape just goes over the booklet. I don't know where you would get that but you really don't need it if you study the book.
