An analogy...

Cholesterol, statins, and arteries.

Firetrucks, firetruck blockers, and buildings.

The bigger the building on fire, the more firetrucks show up to the scene to put out the fire. As more firetrucks arrive to put out a big building fire, it could be argued that the presence of many firetrucks causes big building fires.

Thus, controlling firetruck response to fires should theoretically reduce building fires.

Going back to reality, the "bad" cholesterol is mostly from high glycemic foods that raise/spike insulin and glucose levels. Many recommend whole wheat as heart healthy, but even whole wheat spikes insulin and glucose levels as much as the white stuff.

Statins make no sense, simply lower high glucose and insulin raising foods - it will do a WORLD of DIFFERENCE.
