Inertia
But billions can be controlled by even one, if you consider inertia.
The few are organized and know how to prevail.
The billions are ignorant -- many willfully so -- and may be used (by the few) to neutralize one another.
And so the whole rotten mess just moves along because it's already in motion that way.
Was thinking lately about just one aspect of this.
Example: there can be no Liberty in a society that allows the practice of insurance.
BECAUSE
Liberty is based upon Rights.
All Rights have Responsibilities attached.
Limiting liability (responsibility) is one of the major reasons for practicing insurance.
People who insist upon being Irresponsible (You?) cannot be allowed Rights; and in fact, even if allowed them, are incapable of exercising them (see above), and so those who run the insurance companies influence government to infringe Rights so they won't need to pay out needlessly to irresponsible "useless eaters."
Example:
Corporations and the corporate model of doing "business."
Corporations exist for three (3) chief reasons.
1.) To raise capital for starting and running a business.
2.) To allow an enterprise organization to "live" on beyond the life span of its founders.
3. To LIMIT LIABILITY.
See? We're right back to personal responsibility (and the lack of it).
Example:
There's an old saw that "honest people can't be fooled."
Equally relevant is the fact that
"foolish people can't be honest."
QUESTION: What is the chief mark of a fool?
ANSWER: Someone who believes he can avoid responsibility.
QUESTION: What about "a fool and his money?"
ANSWER: Money has three (3) basic reasons/uses
1.) A store house for value
2.) A means of exchange.
3.) A unit of account (as in, payable in Dollars, Yen, etc., as opposed to payable in aborigine toe nail clippings or pretty sea shells.)
DON'T YOU AGREE THAT:
It's pretty easy to see that foolish, irresponsible people are getting in way over their heads when they decide not to look very closely at those they allow to issue and tinker with their money system.
FOR FURTHER ENLIGHTENMENT:
See the writings of Ezra Pound. Particularly the transcripts of his wartime broadcasts from Italy, if you can find them. They're available free online here and there.
