Re: phytoestrogens cancer protective

 Excellent article, thanks for posting.

I would love to send this to the Weston Price Foundation for several reasons since they have harped so much on the supposed evils of phytoestrogens.  There are several things they ought to read in their such as the fact that the phytoestrogens are not only anti-cancer, but some are also antiviral and antibacterial.  They also point out that nuts and berries are higher in phytoestrogens than soy, which they bash all the time.

But the best part is that after all the bashing the Weston Price Foundation has done on phytoestrogens falsely claiming they are cancer forming it turns out that phytoestrogens have also been found in milk, which the Weston Price Foundation heavily promotes.  So I would love to see them try to talk their way out of how the phytoestrogens in milk do not have the same adverse effects they falsely claim occur from plant phytoestrogens.

There is also a sentence that the moderator of the Cancer Support forum need to read since he clearly does not understand the role of cancer viruses in the formation of most cancers and also loves to make false claims about soy.  The article mentions genestein from soy as being a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI).  They go on to mention how tyrosine kinase is involved in the activity of src retroviral oncogenes (genes that cause cancer) in the malignant transformation of cells. In short they found that the genestein from soy acts as a TKI to prevent these viral oncogenes from turning healthy cells malignant, including breast cancer.

The phytoestrogens were also found to lower the free hormones that could promote the growth of hormone fed cancers such as some breast cancers and prostate cancer.

In addition, genestein was also found to fight cancer by being an angiogenesis inhibitor and possibly from its antioxidant effects.

Over all the primary anticancer effects from soy phytoestrogens were from preventing cell differentiation and proliferation, blocking of angiogenesis, blocking of estrogen receptors and binding of sex hormones as well as controlling their production.  Though the phytoestrogens in soy were not the only anti-cancer compounds.  The article also mentions the anti-cancer effects of the soy protease inhibitors, which help inactivate cancer viruses.

As we can see phytoestrogens found in various herbs and plant based foods along with protease inhibitors found in soy and other seeds  fight cancer by targeting various aspects of the cancer including cancer viruses.  This is unlike the various unproven cancer "treatments" such as oleander "soup", DCA and cesium chloride.
