strength of his solution....need help

This is awesome Wombat!!!

I went right to the part on effects on Distortion of the spine......fascinating.

Of course lead pipes sounds really scary, eh? Of course we all had lead solder in the pipes until...?????1960's for new construction and some places still have it...anyway

I am trying to figure out how strong this guys Iodine tincture was, would love some help from those who make their own.

from Herb Pharm I got:
tinctures are about 1000 to 1300 drops per ounce
depending on water alcohol and herb

rectified spirits are 95% ethanol

so that would mean his mixture was less viscous than water and more drops per ounce so we will go with 1300 drops per ounce

a drachm is an old measure for a dram

Modern unit of mass

from Wiki:

The dram is also the mass of 1⁄96 pound (℔) or 1⁄8 ounce (℥) in the apothecaries' system that survived until the middle of the 20th century in English-speaking countries. It is equal to 3 scruples (℈) or 60 grains (G). Thus, it is equal to exactly 3.887 9346 grams.

so he used 3.89 grams of Iodine (probably)

and he used 2 1/2 ounces of spirits
which would be approximately (1300x2.5)= 3250 drops NOT accounting for change in volume when Iodine is added

3.89g/3250 drop = 0.001196 g/drop or 1.197 mg/drop

and it would be a bit less if we account for the volume increase by adding the Iodine to the ethanol

if anyone can help with how to do that I would be appreciative. I should be in the ballpark though....

so from the few accounts I read he is dosing people at 5 to 10 to 20 to 25mg/day kind of range

this spinal distortion stuff is fascinating to me as a bodyworker who does visceral work......how much toxicity is creating structural problems???? And all the bodywork in the world can't help people feel good if there is underlying organ dysfunction from toxicity, or bone quality or endocrine/organ deficiency of a core nutrient.

In some clients I get awesome changes, especially when the pathology has a clear physical trauma history....car accident and the seat belt buggers up the liver, or a pneumonia creates adhesions around the lung pleura or a C-sections creates adhesions/strain in the uterine ligaments.....all creating musculoskeletal protection, compensation or adaptation patterns and thus dysfunction and pain.

Physiologic/toxicity organ issues also show up in structure but my effectiveness is usually limited

And from my own history/symptoms the organ toxicity issues have made themselves clear as structural problems, but to think this guy 200 years ago was treating structural problems with Iodine is exciting to me.

More reason to tell all my clients about Iodine, not just the clients who are more obviously deficient.
