fibers in scalp not coming from follicles

..thin [~20 microns] translucent and colored fibers
growing in the scalp are NOT growing out of the hair
follicles. I extracted "plugs" of gel material from
the hair follicles for examination using a fine
tooth steel comb ["flea comb"] The plugs often
retain the "fat bulb bottoms" that form as they fill the
contour of the hair follicle. The vigorous fiber
growth in the gel material clearly shows that the
fiber that finally grows large enough to be visible
at the hairline of the scalp..did NOT grow from the
hair follicle. The fine fibers are growing out of the
gels that accumulate IN the hair follicles.

* in addition to the very fine fibers, there are also
a lot of very strange looking "fake hair" growing
from the scalp that is much larger in diameter and looks very much like a normal hair..[..sort of].
I suspect that the hair follicle stem cells in the bulb of the follicle have had their normal hair growing function altered...
somehow. [a subject for another day..
