Lobelia and coughing

I am trying to get rid of a lung infection (name too long to put in here), brought on a couple of months ago by a buggy cold. The pathogen was identified by a bronchoscopy. Was put on Levofloxacin by the doctor and am trying to help it along with CS and a drop of Lobelia in a nebulizer as I thought Lobelia might help. One drop of Lobelia in the CS causes uncontrollable coughing. CS alone is OK.

This is a very persistent and resistant bug. I have nebulized CS repeatedly up to now with no real improvement as well as taken CS off and on. Does the coughing from Lobelia tell us anything? Any other ideas which might help?
