I have two Amalgams and I am not planning to remove them. I am 100% sure it was not the main cause of AF. Though it is good idea not to have Amalgams at all.

mercury is not used in the root canals. It is something looks like rubber so that when the tooth extends/shrinks on warm/cold contacts, it would not break it but shrink extands with the tooth.
