As a kid growing up in the 50’s, I remember both parents telling me that Pearl Harbor was no big surprise like FDR made it out to be, but rather an excuse to get into the war to primarily help the UK. Sugar & meat rations were designed to make the Brits think the US was suffering along with them. If memory serves me correctly, it was in the movie “Tora Tora Tora” that showed the US had broken the Japanese secret code, hence no surprise, yet no outrage by those who watched it. Must have been in a trance. Decades later the GI’s still had a hatred for the Japanese, yet revered FDR. Strange. Makes me wonder why no comments on Bldg #7 collapse. No it doesn’t.
