need alternative treatment for anxiety/depression

a friends mother has been diagnosed w/ alzheimer's for a year now. Her mother is crying a lot and asking to go home. She has forgotten her current home and wants to go home to her childhood home. She appears upset everyday.

She has reacted with hallucinations and restlessness, increased anxiety to all meds she has been tried on for alzheimers as well as antidepressants. The family is getting really stressed by how distressed she is and I am concerned this will speed her placement into a facility.

Does anyone have any suggestions at all. The family has no knowledge of holistic approaches and has only tried prescription treatments.
