Surgery and Candida - What are my options?

I am now in month 2 of the candida diet and week 3 of using probiotics and week 2 of using grape seed extract. I am also taking garlic oil capsules and eating about a bulb of garlic every two to three days. Because of my perioral dermatitis I am also using ACV (drinking and using it topically).

So far, everything is going brilliantly; apart from bursting into tears in the supermarket on the first week of the diet, there has been no collateral damage to family or personal property - well sorta

I will be undergoing surgery in about two months. My doctor has told me that as a precaution, I will be put on antibiotics; I’m sorry I forgot to ask him what kind of antibiotics or how long I’d have to take them.

Of course after reading the link between candida and antibiotics, I’m a little apprehensive as I don’t want to undo all the great progress I’ve been making. However, because it’s surgery, I’m inclined to take the advice of my doctor.

My game plan was to take a double dose of probiotics (would work out to be 25 billion NCFM and 25 billion Bi-07) while I’m taking the prescribed antibiotics.

Would this be enough to counteract the damage the antibiotics were doing?

My biggest fear is that as I’d only be in months 4-5 of my candida ‘recovery’ - perhaps not fully recovered yet, and that I’d have to start from scratch again.

The diet aspect is no issue as I feel genuinely better and more energetic and don’t crave ‘naughty’ foods, so it’s really the impact on my immune system and the ‘good bacteria’ that I’m worried about.

Any suggestions for how I can prepare my body for antibiotics or how I can minimize the damage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps.
