Afib, weight gain, Iodine

I have a client that started taking Iodine recently, one month or so.

the first week he felt great, no A fib, energy good.

in the past couple of weeks he is having more Afib than before he started and he has gained 5 lbs. even though he is eating less.

he is concerned about the weight gain especially.

I am assuming detox, but has anyone here seen temporary weight gain???? I don't have experience on that one and would love any comments....
