Here is a mystery I am hoping someone can help solve. I've been having urinary pain again, and so I took a home UTI test. The test came back negative for nitrites , but positive for leukocytes (white blood cells). What does this mean? No nitrites means no bacteria, which means no infection, right? Or am I wrong on that point?
I am thinking that the leukocytes are maybe just an indication of severe irritation that the body is trying to deal with (maybe even interstitial cystitis?).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! The symptoms, besides the positive test, are mild pain (more like tenderness really) and a frequent need to pee.
