Why don't you try contacting some other dentists who are relatively close? I ended up driving almost 90 mins to find a dentist who was both qualified and somewhat reasonably priced.

I agree -- the price you quoted seems like an awful lot for just a consult. If it were me, I'd just keep calling until I found one.

If you have a neighborhood (non-chain) health food store, they will likely know some good dentists to refer you to.
