Preventing breast cancer
I've lately come to realize I'm at higher risk for
Breast Cancer than I thought. My mother (66) was recently diagnosed; I'm 40 years old and have never been pregnant or nursed, and worst of all, I have very dense breast tissue which is considered even more of a risk factor than the other two above.
I'm considering thermography as a way to monitor breast health as I'm opposed to mammograms, which are useless anyway with dense breasts.
More importantly I am trying to figure out how to give myself the best shot at not being one of those 1 in 12 or 1 in 10 that come down with this in the US. I can't indiscriminately use
Iodine as my mechanism for processing "excess" is broken, and I gave myself Graves Disease trying to use
Iodine to boost my previously hypo thyroid. As you may have heard,
Iodine is a big trigger for Graves once you've got it, although I am cautiously trying to apply it to my breast tissue directly in hopes of benefiting them without worsening the Graves.
I also supplement with selenium and take flax seed oil. I've looked at the Budwig protocol, but there's such a strong and convincing link between
Breast Cancer and dairy consumption, that seems like a potentially perilous path.
I've done a lot of reading but still don't seem to be narrowing down the best things to do to increase my chances of staying healthy. Would love to hear any opinions on this. Thanks for reading!
