The Idea of War Crimes

Isn't the idea of "War Crimes" a joke that doesn't make anyone laugh?
When did the thought of killing humans in a certain way become a battle of morality?
It seems like we're just making up fake rules as we go along with this stupid game.
Humans are the only species on Earth that uses groups of its own kind to kill others of its own kind.
Money? Democracy? Communism? The reasons don't matter when its your blood about to be spilled. When it's your daughter about be raped.
However, are we not simply slaves to nature? Survival of the fittest? Genetic Diversity? Shouldnt the victor be able to make the rules? War is justified in nature. If no one killed each other, the world would decay. Overpopulation is a harsh reality many need to realize.
Humans are just billions of cinderellas without a shoe that fits.
I don't know what's right anymore, if there ever was such a thing to begin with.
