Chemical peel safe if you have Hashimoto's?

I've been looking to use a chemical peel to decrease the appearance of Acne scars. On one site, it says not to use a chemical peel if you have an autoimmune disorder. I could no find other information that explains the reason why you can't a chemical peel. Does anyone know anything about this?
