Re: Can Stem Cells regrow bacteria?

No, stem cells cannot be turned into bacteria. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells from your own body that can be reprogrammed to grow various types of tissue in your body. They contain your DNA.

Bacteria are separate organisms, a different form of life, with their own DNA.

Bacteria are constantly coming and going through you, some beneficial, some commensal, some pathogenic, but these are not the symbiotic strains that you need.

The symbiotic bacteria in your body come from your mother mostly, though you can get some from the skin of your father and those you've had close contact with. You get them initially from colostrum, mother's milk, and feces from your mother present at birth.

The strains in commercially available probiotics are of the "Transient Symbiotic" variety, and last anywhere from a few days to a month in your body, but they don't permanently implant.

Probiotics that will permanently implant have been manufactured but are not commercially available as they are not GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe.) They are experimenting with ways to "turn them off" in case they cause infection, but it remains unclear if they will ever be allowed to come to market.

Fecal implantation and drinking raw breast milk, are the main ways of acquiring beneficial bacteria, particularly the strains you need.

Although you can also acquire bacteria during kissing, sex and other close contact with other humans and pets, eating unwashed vegetables etc, they won't replace the entire ecology the way fecal implantation can.

So the only reasonably safe and reliable way to replace your symbiotic bacteria is to get a stool transplant from a well screened donor in a professional facility.

People have done it at home without safeguards, but IMO, it's a very risky endeavor.

The clinics will also put you through an antimicrobial protocol before performing the procedure to get the best results.
