Pre-Workout Supps, bad or safe?

Morning workouts are the best for me because it's easy to get them out of the way so life doesn't get in the way later in the day or night. However, I'm always always hungry in the morning, that feeling in your stomach, hunger pains, whatever you want to call it.

Recently, while at the supplement store, the sales person told me about this one:

which I purchased and sure enough it makes you feel great in the morning. Get a great workout with nothing but this stuff in my body. Question is, how safe is it (and any like it)

Another one that's supposed to be great is:

As there's usually a natural alternative for just about everything, what else is recommended that's easy and FAST in the mornings that gets rid of empty stomach feeling and gives energy for lifting? I don't want to have to get up, make a meal, digest the meal and then go workout. This stuff I just get a scoop, mix it with water, wait about 30 mins and then hit the gym. I'm sure there's got to be something safer, more natural and effective than the high cost commercial supps..
