 Hi, I was diagnosed with Balanitis. I was told to use Monistat on the penis for 7 days. Is that safe anything else you would recommend?

There are a number of causes for this including viruses, bacteria, fungi, skin damage from alkalinizing soaps, diabetes and autoimmunity.  They should not be prescribing drugs without first determining the cause.  Did they actually do testing such as cultures or biopsy first so they they are actually dealing with a yeast/fungus to begin with?

If yes, then washing the area and surrounding area really well with Betadine (iodine) soap would be a good start.  Also wash all of your clothes, towels, sheets, etc. before using them again and make sure to avoid harsh soaps and wear clean underwear each day after bathing.
