Re: Gaining weight on juice fast, what to do?

14 days is a great time length for juice fasting. Perhaps after you break this fast you can go raw for a month or so and do another short fast? You'll still continue to detox and heal while eating raw foods, just at a slower pace.

Elimination is very key while fasting. Most seasoned juice fasters will suggest daily enemas throughout the length of the fast. You'd be surprised what is eliminated during months of fasting. My longest fast was 145 days and I was still eliminating till the end. It's an eye-opening experience. Did you know that John Wayne died with 40 pounds of fecal matter in his intestines? Yuck...

Everything you need to survive is in your juices. You don't need to add salt or protein or anything else to your diet. Try adding some Kale, if you're not already, to your diet. It's an awesome superfood...

A little info on kale- (from wiki, who I wouldn't usually quote but this info is spot on...)

"Kale is considered to be the most nutritious vegetable in the universe with extremely powerful antioxidant properties; kale is considered to be anti-inflammatory.[1]

Kale is very high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, lutein, zeaxanthin, and reasonably rich in calcium. Kale, as with broccoli and other brassicas, contains sulforaphane (particularly when chopped or minced), a chemical believed to have potent anti-cancer properties.[citation needed] Boiling decreases the level of the anti-cancer compounds; however, steaming, microwaving, or stir frying do not result in significant loss.[2] Along with other brassica vegetables, kale is also a source of indole-3-carbinol, a chemical which boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells.[3][4] Kale is also a good source of carotenoids"

Also something to consider, stress releases a hormone called cortisol which if produced in excess for a length of time will result in weight gain, especially around the stomach. If stress may be the culprit for your weightgain, it might be beneficial to work on ways to destress. Find an activity that can get you centered, like prayer or yoga, and work on ways to calm yourself down when under stress. It's amazing the ill effects stress can have on your body...

Best of health to you!
