A project that I think is important: "Mothers of A Nation: Uganda"

A very good friend of mine, Ansley West, traveled to Uganda to plant organic vegetable gardens at HIV clinics and orphaneges with her husband Rafe Rivers and with DIG (Development in Gardening). They went planning on only building 12 and ended up with 35, I believe. Ansley is a fabulous documentary and fine art photographer and has made a traveling exhibit about the incredible women who work the land there and the value of gardening for these women and their families.. The exhibit features her still photography as well as a documentary film.

They are now fundraising to make a feature film about the experience and have created a kickstarter page to help them to raise their finds. They are a thousand dollars away from their goal. For those of you who aren't familiar with kickstarter, if they don't reach the goal, then they don't get any of the money that they have raised so far.

This, by the way, was a project that I was hoping to be a part of before I got sick. Ansley had invited me to go with them to work with the kids there to paint educational murals along with the gardens.

Here is their kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1228643369/mothers-of-a-nation-uganda

(Uny, I hope it's okay that I've posted this here. It felt like the group here would be particularly interested in such a cause.)

Love to you all!
Beth
