One of the biggest pitfalls with trials is that people believe they are somehow immune to placebo effect or "mind tricks"..
Pain is actually one condition that responds the most to placebo effect owing to it being an extremely subjective experience.
I admire that you at least consider taking steps to avoid the placebo effect, however as an actual clinical trial your methodology is very poor. When your wife switches your medication, that is what is called single blind, not double blind, if you do some reading single blind studies are considered not very reliable.
Secondly, how does your wife switch it without you noticing? Surely the smell gives it away? Even if you don't consciously notice the smell, it would be a dead give away.
Placebo effect is actually largely misunderstood by the general public, if you are actually interested in learning about it, i read a decent book recently that goes into some depth on the topic called "Bad Science" by Ben Goldacre.
