Honestly, if the whole world did actually know that you or other people who suffer from TMAU weren't smelling bad on purpose, I still think they would act the same way. I still believe that people will still talk behind your back or ridicule you because it makes them feel more superior. Deep down these people are insecure and have self-esteem issues about themselves, and the only way they can make themselves feel better is by looking down on you or somebody else. So don't worry about the people who look down on you because deep down they're the only ones that have issues
