Histidine and histamine.

So most people talk about histamines as something to reduce, hence "anti-histamines," but might there be some of us who would benefit from increased histamine? Has anyone taken the amino acid histIDine as an isolated supplement? The question springs from this old post by Johnny Vegas:

//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=289770#i

He also said in another post,"
"histidine may be of extra importance to those who are sulphur sensitive. Mercury people are usually low in histidine."

We all know about histamine making us sneeze, etc, but there are other aspects, such as (from Wiki):
"Histamine is ...involved in ...regulating physiological function in the gut"... and ...
"Histamine increases the permeability of the capillaries to white blood cells and some proteins, to allow them to engage pathogens in the infected tissues."

I'm guessing suitable candidates would have to have no INFLAMMATION issues and no AUTOIMMUNE issues.

And then there's this histamine-and-gastric-juices thread:
//www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=735730

Lots of info out there, and on CZ, on histidine as a chelator. And also this from Dr Derry/Wombat/Iodine Supp. Forum:

"This reaction of Iodine with tyrosine and histidine, which makes Iodine rapidly kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other single-celled organisms at even very dilute (1/170,000) concentrations, is the main reaction."

Looking for any personal experience, informed comments, or medical studies. Moreso than armchair theorizing. :)
